Ryan Reynolds Walks In As the Man Upstairs in Latest Poster of John Krasinski’s ‘IF’

Thus, when John Krasinski decided to make a movie based on imaginary characters with the upcoming flick IF aka Imaginary Friends, he settled on a star cast involving the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Steve Carrell. Following a heart-warming storyline, the movie will mark The Office actor’s next big directorial project with the A Quiet Place franchise already on his resume.

Ahead of its impending release, the movie has taken to swift promotions and unrolled its latest poster featuring a star-studded line-up.

Described as “a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids,” as per its synopsis, IF stands as a live-action and animated blend featuring Ryan Reynolds and even John Krasinski himself. The director took to X to share the latest promotional poster for the movie set to release on May 17, 2024. Walking across the streets, it had the Canadian actor’s character, The Man Upstairs, Cailey Fleming’s Bae, and Steve Carrell’s Blue, front and center.

The movie’s first trailer released a while back, introduced the protagonist, Bae, who discovered her power of being able to see everyone else’s imaginary friends. Soon after, she would strike a bond with The Man Upstairs, who also possesses the same abilities. As disclosed by the poster, the additional star cast has Phoebe Waller-Bridge voicing Blossom, a humanoid ladybug, Louis Gossett Jr. as a bear, and Emily Blunt as a unicorn. Moreover, Matt Damon will voice a sunflower, and Awkwafina, Octocat, among other characters.

Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool with Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine scheduled for July 26. However, the bigger surprises come in the form of a bunch of rumored cameos such as Henry Cavill as a Wolverine variant, alongside the likes of Daniel Radcliffe. Furthermore, with the role of the TVA prominently cast all over, the multiverse concept will come into big play.

Additional rumors hold that a majority of the movie will take place in The Void. A recent promotional artwork also showcased the characters of Kidpool, Babypool, Headpool, and Dogpool, as some of the few variants guaranteed to make their way to the big screens, setting the stage for a mega fan fest and box office affair.
