During his latest sit-down on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast, Ryan Reynolds did not hold back as he recalled a moment that left him both stunned and slightly defeated—a joke Disney flat-out refused to let slide in Deadpool & Wolverine. Reynolds revealed that after Disney CEO Bob Iger watched the film, he immediately pointed out the “one line” that had to go. When Reynolds realized it was the Mickey Mouse joke, he argued it was crucial to the film’s entire vibe, calling it the “thrust” of the movie. But Iger was not having it and insisted the line be cut, no matter how much Reynolds pushed back.
The punchline itself poked fun at the absence of Magneto in the film, with Deadpool sarcastically noting that, instead of the powerful mutant, they chose to feature the beloved Mickey Mouse. The joke was meant to be a playful dig, but Disney was seemingly not having it. Reynolds stood up for it, even going so far as to say the entire movie "orbits" around the line, but Disney remained unmoved. While this Disney clash could have derailed things, it sure did not stop Deadpool & Wolverine from becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever!
Ryan Reynolds has a way of turning even the smallest moments into a hilarious prank- one that, by his own admission, could have almost landed him behind bars. Separately, in another appearance the same day, he shared yet another cheeky Disney-linked story. While the studio clamped down on some of his wilder jokes, there was one small keepsake he somehow managed to slip away with.

Ryan Reynolds could not resist revealing a hilarious "grand theft" experience during his May 12 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He confessed to having walked off with a costume from Deadpool & Wolverine—namely, the Welshpool outfit worn by Paul Mullin. This special rendition of Deadpool's red suit with a gigantic dragon as a tribute to the Welsh flag is now proudly displayed at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground. Reynolds jokingly claimed the outfit was “actual grand theft” as he chuckled at the whole experience.

When it came to the big question of Disney’s reaction, Reynolds made it clear that the company did not seem too concerned. He jokingly also remarked that Disney did not send lawyers after him, quipping that they are "not litigious at all." While the shenanigans went on, Reynolds did add that Disney was completely okay with him keeping the costume, showing that even Disney can have a good sense of humor when it comes to their biggest stars.
