As much as Marvel Studios is trying to keep things and key plot details for Avengers: Doomsday under wraps, the incessant leaks have continued to lay waste to their plans. Some of the recent leaks revealed a potential Deadpool and Wolverine cameo in the movie, which prompted Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman to take the narrative into their own hands, and D23 presented a perfect opportunity for it. They confirmed their appearance via a fun video, which later found a place on Ryan Reynolds’ social media handles.  

However, just a day later, he posted another video clip that was not meant to announce any more stuff but rather to reminisce about the past, somewhere around 2017.

Ryan Reynolds posted an old video clip of his 2017 movie Deadpool on Sunday, August 16, and captioned it: “2017 was a simpler time.” The video, at a time when Ryan Reynolds has been busy with so many things - new projects, a big Marvel comeback, and whatnot - seems a bit shocking to many.  

The post has made everyone curious about the hidden meaning of the sudden drop. The clip features a scene from the first Deadpool movie where he sees a crime being committed and then hides in a snug telephone booth to change into his hero outfit. He takes a lot of time just to put on his gear, and when he is almost done, he hears a gunshot. The crime has been committed, and he has spent all his time dressing up for the occasion.         

Anyhow, Ryan Reynolds’ post on X and the enigma behind it continue to weigh on everyone’s mind. It has incited all sorts of questions from fans: Is the actor hanging up his suit? Is he hinting at a new Deadpool instalment? Or is he just trying to celebrate nearly a decade of being Deadpool? The answer to these questions can only be provided by the actor.

The bewilderment is understandable, as the post comes after a big reveal that took over the internet.    

The D23 proved to be a wellspring of new and exciting updates on their favorite Marvel projects, in particular Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel released an entire character teaser for Doctor Doom, hinting at his power and his tragic origin story. They also debuted an interactive Time Variance Authority (TVA) exhibit for the movie. This would have been enough for the fans at the time, but Marvel went one step further to get them more riled up by officially confirming Deadpool and Wolverine appearances in Doomsday via a video featuring Hugh Jackman, made by Ryan Reynolds. 

The latter also put this on his social media handles, confirming what he hinted at at San Diego Comic-Con, which was celebrated by his fans. Then came his nostalgia post reminiscing about the time of his first Deadpool movie, and that threw everyone off. Now, everyone is eagerly looking forward to what comes next from the actor.
