Ryan Hurst has been cast in the lead role of Kratos for the series, God of War. The announcement was made on January 14, alongside confirmation that the series will adapt the 2018 God of War game. As soon as the news broke, Hurst took to social media to express his gratitude for the opportunity to play the iconic character with an Instagram post.

"Used to play as him. Now I get to be him. Grateful to pick up the axe, and honored by the fans who made this story legendary," he captioned it.
