While one project harks back to Saturday morning reruns, Gosling is quietly assembling a team to give a beloved sidekick his grown-up moment on the big screen.

Ryan Gosling and his producing partner at Open Invite, Jessie Henderson, are developing a live-action The Flintstones feature at Warner Bros centered on an adult version of Bamm-Bamm Rubble. Deadline reported the project remains in early stages, with the duo currently searching for a writer to shape the script. The premise flips the modern Stone Age setting toward its next generation, following Bamm-Bamm well past his club-swinging toddler years into adulthood.

Bamm-Bamm has aged up on screen once before. The 1971 series The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show turned him into a Bedrock High teenager dating Pebbles Flintstone and fronting a band called the Bedrock Rockers, with the original Flintstones and Rubbles appearing only in cameos, Deadline noted. The franchise has already crossed into live action twice, with the 1994 film The Flintstones and the 2000 sequel The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, which together earned $401 million worldwide.

While Bedrock keeps its plans under wraps, Gosling already stepped into another legendary role this month, one wrapped in fire.

Marvel Studios confirmed Ryan Gosling as the new Ghost Rider during a Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, ending years of speculation the studio had quietly encouraged. Kevin Feige joined the actor on stage as the packed venue erupted into a thunderous ovation, capping years of casting chatter. The standalone film will be directed by Shawn Levy, reuniting him with Gosling right after their work together on Star Wars: Starfighter.

The film marks Ghost Rider's biggest live-action comeback since Nicolas Cage played Johnny Blaze nearly two decades ago, and it is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2028.
