With this, the director became the first person to lead two different cast ensembles to victory at the ceremony, making him an even stronger contender at the Academy Awards. Moreover,  Coogler’s first win came with Black Panther, which also starred Michael B. Jordan.

This was a huge win, as Delroy Lindo described during the acceptance speech. The director was not present at the stage, but Lindo, speaking on behalf of the cast, praised Coogler. Now, this was not the only win for the Sinners

Michael B. Jordan, who played the twins Smoke and Stack in the movie, also took home the Best Actor award. His win at the Actors Awards also makes him a strong contender for the Oscars. Now, Sinners has already made quite an immense impression at the Academy Awards, even before it takes place.

It is also only the seventh film to be nominated in every technical category. Even if it does not win all 16, Sinners is expected to take home multiple Oscars.
