Robert Pattinson Takes Center Stage in ‘The Odyssey’s Brand New Trailer

Robert Pattinson is stealing every frame of Christopher Nolan's brand new trailer for The Odyssey, and the internet is already losing its mind over it. The film, an adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic, arrives with a cast so extraordinarily assembled it borders on unfair. From mythical creatures to scheming royals, the trailer teases a genuinely jaw-dropping scale, but it is Pattinson who walks away with the whole thing before Odysseus even reaches the shore.

As Odysseus wrestles with giants outside, Antinous has already made himself at home inside, and his character is only getting darker from here.

In the brand new trailer for The Odyssey, Robert Pattinson is playing Antinous, the most dangerous suitor vying for Penelope's hand and Ithaca's throne. Antinous is not a soldier; he is a predator in silk, weaponising patience and privilege. While Odysseus is lost at sea, Antinous has already redecorated the throne room in his own ambition.

"They're pining for a daddy you didn't even know like some sniveling b****** who's looking after your wife and son," Pattinson delivers this directly at Tom Holland's Telemachus, a calculated humiliation designed to break a son before his father even returns.

Antinous, in Homer's original text, is the cruelest and most arrogant of Penelope's suitors, the ringleader who turns the palace into his personal playground. Pattinson brings something uniquely unsettling to the role: a stillness that reads as absolute confidence. Where others shout, Antinous whispers. Where others threaten physically, he dismantles with words. That psychological menace, layered over Christopher Nolan's typically grounded visual language, makes Pattinson's Antinous feel genuinely terrifying rather than theatrically villainous.

'Shorter than Oppenheimer' Christopher Nolan Confirms 'The Odyssey' Won't Surpass 3 Hour Mark

While Pattinson's Antinous schemes inside palace walls, Odysseus faces gods, giants, and sorcery outside them, and the cast assembled for both sides is nothing short of astonishing.

The Odyssey's massive ensemble cast is as mythic as the story itself

Matt Damon leads as Odysseus, with Anne Hathaway as Penelope and Tom Holland as their son Telemachus, the trio forming the emotional core of the story. Zendaya plays Athena, goddess of wisdom and Odysseus's divine protector, while Charlize Theron portrays Circe, the sorceress who turns men into something considerably less heroic. Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Mia Goth, and John Leguizamo round out an ensemble that reads less like a cast list and more like a cinematic occasion.

The Odyssey releases on July 17, 2026, worldwide, with a significant push toward IMAX and premium large-format screenings, making it the first narrative film ever captured entirely on IMAX cameras. Christopher Nolan and producer Emma Thomas developed the project under their Syncopy banner, with Universal Pictures handling distribution. The film's structure is confirmed as nonlinear, beginning in Ithaca before unravelling Odysseus's journey in pieces. With Robert Pattinson commanding every frame he occupies, Nolan may have found his most compelling antagonist yet.
