The excitement around Avengers: Doomsday is already at a fever pitch. And Robert Downey Jr., who is set to play Doctor Doom in the film, has only fueled it further by teasing glimpses that have sparked speculation and debate. Most recently, he shared a detailed artwork of Doctor Doom. 

While many fans are admiring the artwork, the rest of the keen-eyed fans believe it may hint at which characters could appear in the upcoming battle in Avengers: Doomsday.

Robert Downey Jr. shared an artwork on his Instagram, featuring Doctor Doom in his iconic metal mask, holding a basket of Easter eggs adorned with symbols like spiders and more. Many fans believe this could hint at which heroes might appear in Avengers: Doomsday. The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men, Spider-Man (potentially Tobey Maguire), Captain America, Loki, Thor, Shang-Chi, Black Panther, Namor, Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange are the members subtly teased in the artwork as per a post by MCU Film News.

This is not the first artwork he has shared. Earlier, Downey Jr. posted another image of Doctor Doom in his metal mask and green hooded cloak, holding a small clover. Fans quickly flooded the comments section, expressing their excitement. Now, coming back to the newest artwork and the possible lineup, several characters, such as Loki, Thor, and Namor, were already confirmed by Marvel Studios back in March 2025.

And as per the announcement, several iconic villains and antiheroes are also expected to return for the movie. 

As Marvel Studios confirmed last year, Bucky Barnes’ Winter Soldier is expected to return in the film, with Sebastian Stan reprising the role. Another such return is of Lewis Pullman, who is set to join the cast as Bob. Bob is one of the most powerful members in the MCU, both as a superhero and a villain.

Wyatt Russell, who plays anti-hero John Walker, is also set to return and join forces with Bucky Barnes in Avengers: Doomsday. Meanwhile, Thunderbolts actress Hannah John-Kamen is expected to appear as Ava Starr, aka Ghost. The dangerous shapeshifting mutant Mystique from the 20th Century Fox X-Men franchise, played by Rebecca Romijn, is also expected to return. Romijn previously appeared in X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).

Last but not least, Erik Lehnsherr’s Magneto is expected to return, with Ian McKellen reprising his iconic role from the original X-Men trilogy. With such a star-studded lineup, expectations for the film are understandably high.
