Rob Reiner’s passing shattered Hollywood, leaving family, friends, and fans mourning the loss of the legend whose work touched generations. Even after Reiner’s death, his final performance has continued to keep his presence alive on screen. The actor and filmmaker appeared in three episodes of Season 4 of FX’s The Bear in one of his final television roles. This year, he won the Emmy Award posthumously in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category.
Over the years, several actors and performers have been honored with Emmys for their final work after their deaths. So, here are five more actors who earned the honor posthumously.
Chadwick Boseman

One name that will always remain inscribed in Marvel and Hollywood history is Chadwick Boseman. He was honored with a posthumous Emmy in September 2022, winning Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for voicing T’Challa in the Disney+ and Marvel Studios animated series What If…? The role was one of his final projects before his passing.

Many fans know Boseman as T’Challa from Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther. He is one of the most beloved characters in Marvel. He passed away from colon cancer in August 2020 at the age of 43.
Raúl Juliá
Raúl Juliá is well known as Gomez Addams in the comedy film The Addams Family. Some of his other notable films are Kiss of the Spider Woman, Street Fighter, and Presumed Innocent. He won the posthumous Emmy for his performance in The Burning Season in 1995. However, the actor suddenly passed away at the age of 54 in 1994.
Nearly two decades after Juliá, Rob Reiner won the posthumous Emmy for an on-camera performance.
Alice Pearce
Alice Pearce is well known for her films, On the Town in 1949 and The Glass Bottom Boat in 1966. In 1966, she won the posthumous Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series as Gladys Kravitz in the television sitcom Bewitched. The actress passed away due to ovarian cancer in the same year.
Audrey Hepburn
Audrey Hepburn is no stranger to the world of cinema. Roman Holiday, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and My Fair Lady are among her most notable films. In 1993, she won a posthumous Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Informational Programming for Gardens of the World with Audrey Hepburn.

With this win, she completed her EGOT record. The actress had already won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Tony Award before receiving the Emmy, making her one of the few performers to achieve EGOT status. She left the world too soon at the age of 63 after battling a rare form of abdominal cancer.

Ingrid Bergman
Ingrid Bergman was a renowned Swedish actress best known for her roles in Casablanca, Gaslight, Notorious, Spellbound, and several other films. She was posthumously awarded a Primetime Emmy Award in 1982 for her final performance as Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir in the television miniseries A Woman Called Golda. Despite learning that she had breast cancer, Bergman continued to work before passing away on her 67th birthday in 1982. While these legendary names are no longer with us, their legacies will continue to live on.
