Revisiting the Major Plot Hole Featuring Ross Geller During the ‘Friends’ Run

Friends first aired in 1994, is still a timeless show that has a special place
in the hearts of its fans. With worldwide recognition, the sitcom still gives a
kind of warmth to the viewers. While as passionate as fans are about the show,
they also notice even the tiniest detail about everything in it. Amidst those
things, fans noticed one of the crucial things about the character played by
David Schwimmer. Let us revisit this specific thing about Ross Geller’s
character that fans were talking about.

The lives of six friends gave the viewers a homely feeling. Therefore, fans were
involved in the show so much that they also noticed a loophole in Ross Geller’s
character. Ross stayed 29 years old for 3 years during the show. While this is
something that writers might have not paid attention to, fans could not let it
go. However, if you really think about it, his staying the same age would make
sense.

Ross Geller’s character was extremely emotional and had a lot of complexities.
He lied a lot throughout the show till the end. Do you remember the one where he
slept with the copy place girl, Chloe? He went all the way to cover his track so
that his girlfriend, Rachel, would not find out. Moreover, before getting into a
relationship with Rachel, he made a pros and cons list as well. Ross even lied
about reading the letter that Rachel gave her after their ‘break.’ And whenever
he talked about any of these things with Rachel, he kept lying, despite knowing
Rachel already knew.

So, it makes sense if he kept on lying about his age, as per Startefacts

Including all these lies, there is one more thing that would justify Ross
staying the same age.

APART FROM ALL THE LIES, ANOTHER THING FROM FRIENDS WOULD JUSTIFY ROSS GELLER’S
AGE

Do you remember there was an entire episode about how all the characters reacted
when they turned 30? “Why God, Why?,” said Joey while Rached became depressed
about it. Well, that hype around turning 30 was a little overwhelming, even for
the viewers. Therefore, it is only suitable for Ross’ character if he kept lying
about it.

However, despite their strained and complex relationship, David Schwimmer and
Jennifer Aniston were and still are really close friends. They even helped their
co-stars get equal pay

And despite the inconsistency about the character’s age, Schwimmer certainly
justified his character.
