Rediscovered After 14 Years: Deadpool Concept Art From ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ Elicits Horror From Its Creator

The anticipation for Deadpool 3 has fans ecstatic about the prospect of a
vibrant red hue infusing the character’s costume with new life. The upcoming
third installment promises a memorable reunion between Ryan Reynolds
[https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/ryan-reynolds/] and Hugh Jackman, adding to the
excitement. What’s more, the faithful portrayal of Wade Wilson and Wolverine as
per the comic book depictions has propelled the buzz surrounding the movie to
remarkable heights.

Amid the buzz, a haunting Deadpool look gives goosebumps. This particular
appearance evokes a strong sense of discomfort as he holds a deep disdain for
the concept of art that was employed in bringing his creation to life.

UNEARTHED HAUNTING DEADPOOL LOOK SPARKS BLUNT RAGE FROM THE CREATOR

The nightmarish concept art that graced Deadpool’s appearance in the movie X-Men
Origins: Wolverine continues to haunt its creator, Rob Liefeld. Even after the
passage of 14 years, the memory remains fresh. A recent tweet ignited a direct
and candid response from Liefeld. The very post that once left him horrified
still manages to stoke a fire of indignation within the creator’s heart,
reminding us that certain impressions have a lasting impact.

The tweet unveiled various alternate renditions of Deadpool from X-Men Origins:
Wolverine. These deviated significantly from the comic book’s authenticity,
resulting in unsettling and eerie versions

that left both fans and the creator, Liefeld, horrified. Reacting to the uproar,
Liefeld expressed that he had cautioned against these looks, foreseeing their
disastrous outcome. He proposed a unique version with the iconic mask, hinting
at a chance to redeem the character’s depiction.

With such rage, what led to the significant misstep in portraying Deadpool in
X-Men Origins: Wolverine?

THE NOTABLE MISSTEP IN DEADPOOL’S PORTRAYAL IN X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE

Deadpool, famously known as the ‘merc with a mouth,’ excels at both killing and
banter. Ryan Reynolds nailed this dynamic in his standalone Deadpool films, but
X-Men Origins: Wolverine missed the essence completely. The movie closes with
Wade Wilson’s mouth sewn shut, a grave departure from the character’s talkative
charm. Moreover, it skipped Deadpool’s iconic suit, opting for odd tattoos
instead.

Beyond appearances, Deadpool’s powers underwent an overhaul in the film. So much
so, he was renamed Weapon XI. Furthermore, he gained various abilities like hand
blades, teleportation, and tech control, veering far from the beloved character.
This marked a significant departure from Deadpool primed for MCU’s third
installment.
