Yet, as the Marvel blockbuster continues making headlines, the actor has revealed the surprisingly miserable preparation for one of its key scenes. Sometimes, the shortest moments on screen come with the longest stories behind them.

Speaking on the Dish podcast, Tom Holland revealed he tried the same dehydration routine athletes often use before weigh-ins to make months of gym work stand out on camera. Instead of delivering the sharply defined look he had hoped for, the process only left him unbearably thirsty. The actor admitted the routine did not do what it was supposed to and instead just left him “really pissed off,” making the experience far more frustrating than rewarding.

"It's like what athletes do to try and lose weight really quickly. But one of the side effects of it is that it really accentuates the work you've been doing in the gym. And for me, it didn't do any of that. It just really pissed me off cuz I was so thirsty," Holland told on Dish Podcast.

The preparation, however, was for a hot tub sequence featuring Florence Pugh, one of the film’s lighter moments away from the superhero chaos. Holland laughed while recalling the experience, with the conversation quickly shifting to Pugh’s cooking skills and her grandmother’s cocktail recipe before teasing appearances from The Bear stars and the long-awaited return of Scorpion. Even off-screen, it seems Brand New Day continues to find new stories to tell beyond the web-slinging.

However, on screen, the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day is giving millions something entirely different to talk about.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the fourth standalone Spider-Man film pushes Peter Parker into his most isolated chapter yet, five years after No Way Home. Alongside Tom Holland, the film reunites Zendaya and Jacob Batalon while bringing in Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, Sadie Sink in a mysterious role, and the long-awaited return of Michael Mando’s Scorpion. Strong early reviews have praised its emotional maturity, grounded storytelling, and action, proving Holland’s toughest preparation may have been well worth it after all.
