The movie that gave hope to a dejected DC Studios in 2025 was once heavily doubted to deliver on its promise. But one thing that restored DC fans’ trust in James Gunn’s Superman was that it got the Kryptonian’s costume right. This was a consistent complaint associated with Zack Snyder’s Superman: the textured, alien-looking suit lacked the bright colors and the trademark red trunks from the original comics. But the sequel to the 2025 flick is going to tinker with that welcome change in the suit.
David Corenswet has recently teased a new suit upgrade for Man of Tomorrow, and there is a good reason for it.

Speaking with PEOPLE at a New York screening for Mr. Irrelevant on Monday, October 5, star David Corenswet confirmed that his iconic costume has undergone subtle tweaks for the upcoming Superman sequel, noting that the new suit is "a little bit different this time around." This modification is more than just an aesthetic choice; Corenswet previously complained that the original suit was notoriously restrictive and punishingly tight to wear.
“They re-engineered it to be slightly more functional and ready for a fight,” Corenswet said about the new changes.

The Superman actor’s confirmation to PEOPLE validates chatter from dedicated fans who have been meticulously parsing set photos. While initial glimpses suggested a carbon copy of the 2025 suit - leading some outlets to mistakenly report it as an exact repeat - closer inspection revealed distinct alterations, including a more athletic fit, a larger chest insignia, and a modified collar line that exposes a bit more of the throat.
Any tailoring designed to improve mobility and comfort on set will undoubtedly come as a relief, regardless of how minor the visual updates appear. As co-CEO James Gunn has previously emphasized, the overall philosophy behind the wardrobe centers on projecting an approachable, welcoming hero rather than an intimidating figure.
The actor currently promoting his Mr. Irrelevant also revealed that the narrative setup for the upcoming sequel places its central rivals in uncharted territory.

Echoing that sentiment in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, David Corenswet noted that the dynamic between the characters reflects a heightened sense of maturity and emotional depth. He also teased plenty of high-stakes spectacle, including Nicholas Hoult suited up in Lex's iconic heavy armor, jokingly admitting that battling Hoult in full tactical rig won't be an easy feat.
