True terror of the latest horror flick, Psycho Killer (2026), lies not on screen but in its rating. Critics from all over the planet have shredded the film to its core, only to unearth a nightmare crawling out of its storytelling. Debuting with no positive feedback, the film has received an extremely unfavorable score from critics for its laughable absurdity and cringeworthy narrative.

With such terrible reviews, the film is also not expected to make bank on box-office.

What was supposed to be a horror-filled surprise turned out to be a massive failure as Psycho Killer achieved its first Rotten Tomatoes score of 0% of 20 critics' reviews. The movie has now established itself as one of the most badly reviewed films of recent times. The negative responses to the film are now trickling down because the creators refused to show the movie to critics before its release, which received terrible reviews from early viewers.

Released by 20th Century Studios on February 20, 2026, amid a deluge of negative reviews, the movie grossed about $250,000 against a budget of less than $10 million. However, the studio expected better results from their horror flick, but its poor quality got in the way. Critics described Psycho Killer as dull, superficial, and suffering from cartoonish performances and nonsensical views on Satanism.

Several critics found the plot to be a rudimentary satanic panic thriller that made no sense at all. What most found extremely disappointing was Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker bringing back his serial killer horror, only to commit the sin of boring viewers to death, without transmitting any actual terror on screen. A slasher movie plot wasted its potential as it showed no authentic, terrifying moments while presenting a flat-tyred pacing and weak story development, per reviews.

The reviews mention three main problems, which include unoriginal dialogue, incomplete character development, and an atmosphere that fails to create effective horror, resulting in a below-average horror experience that lacks engaging elements. Metacritic has assigned it a score of 33 out of 100, so watch it at the risk of wasting precious time, but also to satiate the itching curiosity.

Earning a 0% critic score, which occurs infrequently, Psycho Killer makes one thing clear - even experienced screenwriters cannot get it right at all times. But viewers should be the judge for themselves.

Perhaps prayers could only save Psycho Killer now; however, it is still running in theatres across the United States since February 20, 2026. It is likely to arrive on Hulu and Disney+ for streaming once it manages to save face after its theatrical window. Directed by Gavin Polone and written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the movie follows Jane Archer, a Kansas highway patrol officer investigating her husband’s murder by a Satanic serial killer.

Georgina Campbell stars as Jane Archer, and James Preston Rogers plays the title character, the Satanic Slasher. Meanwhile, Malcolm McDowell plays Mr. Pendleton, Logan Miller stars as Marvin, and Grace Dove takes on the role of Agent Becky Collins. Nigel Shawn Williams, who plays Jane's father, and David Tomlinson featuring as a State Trooper, complete the supporting roles. Even veteran thespians could not rescue the film from the wrath of the critics. But head to the theaters to judge the movie now, even if it does not make the list of greatest horror flicks of the decade.
