For those who have been excited about watching Project Hail Mary from the comfort of their home, they will need to wait for some time. As Amazon MGM extended the movie's theatrical run. Christopher Miller, the co-director of the film, disclosed in an X (formerly Twitter) post that his popular space adventure will not be available for streaming anytime soon. For the foreseeable future, Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) and Rocky's banter will only be seen on the big screen.
“We announced yesterday that MGM is extending the exclusive theatrical window for Project Hail Mary, so it won’t be on streaming anytime soon,” Miller announced.
He further added in his post that the movie is specially made for the bigger screens, such as IMAX. Therefore, it is only fair that it should be enjoyed in its truest form. He suggested that those who have been meaning to see the movie should book tickets as it starts screenings from this weekend, which will run for a week. He also urged them to experience this movie with their loved ones, as it is a shared experience.
The breathtaking visuals of Project Hail Mary, which are evocative of Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, are worth seeing on the largest screen available. However, Ryan Gosling's humorous and witty science fiction film about astronaut Ryland Grace making friends with an alien that resembles a rock will undoubtedly become a mainstay for cozy viewing at home when it releases digitally.
But still the mystery remains regarding the possible digital release of Project Hail Mary.
When might we see Project Hail hit streaming platforms?
It is highly likely that Project Hail Mary will debut on Amazon Prime Video (as it is an Amazon MGM production). While Creed 3 took a full two months to reach streaming, Mercy arrived on Prime Video approximately five weeks after its digital debut. This implies that Project Hail Mary will likely go live on streaming services in the fall.

The rumors are hot that Andy Weir may be tinkering with ideas about a possible sequel to the story. This remains to be confirmed, but there is a strong possibility, as the writer as well as the studios are game about Project Hail Mary being a franchise.
