Prince Harry revealed to USA Today during a Q&A session at Scotty’s Summer Festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire how he, his wife Meghan Markle, and their two children honour his late mother, Princess Diana. The family observes this comforting ritual every year on her birthday, July 1, or on the painful anniversary of her passing on August 31.
The royal figure shared that his family prepares a traditional lemon drizzle cake to celebrate her life.
"Yes, we do lemon drizzle cake," Prince Harry stated while reflecting on the deep importance of family rituals.
"I think traditions are really, really important, especially when they are sweet," The Duke of Sussex added. Creating these modern, sweet memories allows his young children to feel a meaningful connection to the grandmother they never met.

USA Today also shed light on how, over time, the overwhelming emptiness of Prince Harry was gradually filled with abundant love, purpose, and support from his own growing family. Nonetheless, his mother's demise left a huge hole inside him, as the Prince wrote in the 2021 picture book Hospital by the Hill.
Beyond these private family tributes, the royal figure actively participates in lively community events for youth.
Festive summer encounters and unusual activities

During this lively outdoor gathering, the royal enthusiastically participated in a unique goat yoga session with the young attendees.
He approached the animal enclosure with great curiosity, humorously questioning the staff about safety protocols before stepping inside the pen. The prince quickly joined the fun on a blue exercise mat, balancing in a playful modified tree pose for the crowd. He entertained the young festival participants by making mock animal ears with his hands during the physical stretches.
