If royal exits had box-office numbers, “Megxit” would have been a blockbuster. The term became shorthand for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping back as senior working members of the British royal family in January 2020, turning their decision into a global talking point. So, naturally, them landing back in UK after six good years has sent the buzz machine humming again.
Ever since the Sussexes decided to return to the UK, every detail has become curiouser and curiouser, from their plans to their family’s new British chapter.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their kids land back in the UK
The family of four has touched down in England, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arriving privately from California at Birmingham Airport around lunchtime, according to The Telegraph. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are expected to begin school in England next week. Their dogs, Mia and Pula, have made the journey too, while their chickens remain in Montecito.
“How long will they stay? I do not know, but it will be for an extended period. Whether that is six months, a year, two years… who knows.” The uncertainty says plenty about how open-ended this new chapter could be. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will remain private citizens, with no plans to resume official royal duties. Their new home will reportedly be a private residence outside London, potentially in the Cotswolds.

The Telegraph also reported that the Sussexes are bringing their dogs while leaving their chickens behind in Montecito, California, an oddly charming detail in an otherwise significant move. King Charles III was reportedly informed earlier this month and welcomes more time with his grandchildren, although Prince Harry and Prince William remain estranged. The Duchess of Sussex meanwhile, is expected to keep her lifestyle business humming from British soil.
As the Sussexes return to Britain and people revisit Megxit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still have quite a lot lined up to keep the headlines entertained.
What Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have planned next?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not exactly arriving in Britain without an itinerary. Their next chapter is expected to unfold through entertainment, business and philanthropy, with Archewell Productions continuing its Netflix work, including a scripted polo drama, while Markle reportedly explores an acting opportunity in The Gentlemen. Her lifestyle brand, As Ever, is also preparing new launches.

The couple are equally focused on putting down practical roots, with Prince Harry expected to work closely with UK charities including WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers while preparing for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Meghan Markle may continue travelling to California for business, while Prince Harry takes a hands-on parenting role as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet begin school in England. Together, these plans suggest that the Sussexes’ extended British stay is becoming a carefully mapped new chapter rather than a temporary visit.
