Prince Harry’s July UK visit with wife, Meghan Markle, and kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet has been a subject of significant media attention and public interest. First there was the whole matter of Prince Harry's security arrangements and the family's ability to travel safely. The situation was complicated by the refusal of taxpayer-funded police protection for the Duke and his family. Then there was the issue of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's rumored stay at a royal palace during their visit to the UK that never happened.

Now, we know why they refused the royal accommodations. It is because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took their kids to Princess Diana’s childhood home and resting place.

Meghan Markle gave her followers a close-up look at the events from Portugal, the UK, and what looks to be Scotland as she posted a set of photos from her family's summer vacation in Europe on Instagram on July 23. Instead of staying in a royal residence, the family remained at Althorp House, Princess Diana's childhood home, according to recently released pictures.

According to reports, Prince Harry also brought his wife and children to Princess Diana's grave. Princess Lilibet is seen strolling along the estate's famous tree-lined path in one of the carousel's photos, with Prince Harry and Prince Archie trailing behind her with big bouquets. The eagle-eyed royal observers believe the family was traveling to Princess Diana's burial and the adjacent memorial after seeing the picture.

On the Northamptonshire estate, Princess Diana is buried on a secluded island in the center of Oval Lake. Visitors to Althorp can pay their respects at a memorial by the lake, but the burial place is closed to the public. Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet reportedly had private access to the estate while they were there, according to Daily Mail reports. From Markle’s Instagram post, it appears that the kids are finally reconnecting to their roots.

While the kids reconnected with the memories of their late grandmother, they also had a chance to meet their grandfather, whom they had not seen in almost four years.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet met their grandfather

Earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took their kids to their grandfather's country residence at Highgrove for the first time in four years. The Duke had previously stated that his security arrangements in the UK made it too risky to bring his family to his native country. The last time the kids saw their grandfather was during their 2022 trip to the UK to celebrate the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
