Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's step back from royal life is known to have left many aghast. Their departure triggered headlines, debates, and endless public scrutiny. The decision to relinquish their titles might have even sparked speculation that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would retreat into a quiet, private existence in Los Angeles.

Instead, the couple has continued to channel their global platform toward humanitarian work, dotted with charity partnerships and spotlighting urgent causes across continents.

Far from slowing down, their post-royal chapter has remained purpose-driven, which was only furthered by their recent visit to Jordan.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visit evacuees in Jordan

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex connected with a young patient from Gaza, undergoing recovery from severe burn injuries, at the Specialty Hospital in Amman, Jordan. This followed their announcement of a surprise trip to Jordan this week, focused on supporting humanitarian causes and boosting mental health resources for those hit hard by conflict and upheaval.

The pair teamed up with the World Health Organization during their stay, aiming to highlight Jordan's standout role in supporting victims and refugees from various Middle East crises. This aligns perfectly with their ongoing passions, as their nonprofit Archewell Philanthropies has contributed to funding medical transports for kids impacted by the situation in Gaza.

For day two in Jordan, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aim to accompany World Health Organization groups to hospitals caring for evacuees, explore rehabilitation spots for those battling addiction, and cancer care facilities. An interaction with women leaders at the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development has also been planned, as per several outlets.

This is, however, not the only time Prince Harry and Meghan have engaged in humanitarian causes. The couple has previously supported a broad array of humanitarian efforts.

The Sussex's long past of humanitarian efforts

Through their Archewell Foundation, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have championed projects from rebuilding after California wildfires to pushing for fair access to vaccines worldwide. They often mix hands-on volunteering with smart donations, a style they embraced fully after dialing back from top royal roles in 2020.

A sizeable chunk of their latest giving zeros in on children and adults caught in global tussles. Archewell has committed donations to medical flights and studies on prosthetics for hurt young ones, while backing groups like Save the Children. The outfit has also linked arms with GEANCO to supply school gear and period products to loads of girls in Nigeria, echoing Markle's deep-rooted push for equal rights and learning opportunities for women.

In addition, Prince Harry's goodwill roots run way back. He started Sentebale in 2006 to aid kids dealing with HIV/AIDS in southern Africa, and also kicked off the Invictus Games, now a worldwide stage for injured and afflicted military folks. While the Sussexes have scooped up big nods like the NAACP President’s Award and the Ripple of Hope Award, their tour stop in Jordan seems to reflect a deeper sentiment than appearances.
