But Turner’s latest role takes him into far darker territory, placing him at the center of a marriage consumed by psychological and supernatural turmoil.   

Possession centers around a troubled marriage that begins to fall apart when a wife asks her husband for a divorce. At first, it seems like an unhappy marriage, but it quickly becomes sinister as the husband grows more and more disturbed by his wife’s strange and unsettling behavior. Their domestic squabble gradually escalates into something more intense, as suspicion, emotional instability, and supernatural elements turn their personal crisis into a terrifying plunge.

The crumbling of their relationship plunges the couple into an increasingly disturbing reality where obsession and psychological terror begin to merge. The story retains the central premise of a marriage falling apart but places greater emphasis on the unsettling behavior that follows the divorce request.  Their private hell slowly becomes a nightmare, turning the intimate relationship crisis into a dark and surreal horror story.

But the couple’s nightmare is only the beginning, with the remake now set for a theatrical release in 2027. 

Parker Finn’s remake of Possession is scheduled for release in cinemas on June 11, 2027. Paramount Pictures has scheduled the film for a wide theatrical release, which is Finn’s most recent venture into psychological horror after his work on Smile. The movie is written and directed by Finn himself and serves as a contemporary reimagining of its predecessor. 

Unlike a streaming release, the remake will be made for the big screen, with Finn also producing along with Jonathan Fass, Roy Lee, Andrew Childs and Robert Pattinson. Its June 2027 release places it alongside Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2, giving the horror film a prominent summer theatrical slot.

The movie started to take shape in June 2024 when Finn was announced as writer, director and producer of the new version. The project attracted significant interest, with A24, Netflix, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures said to be involved in the bidding. Robert Pattinson was also attached to produce through his production banner, though speculation suggests that it never happened.
