Perez Hilton has been unusually open about his recent struggles, from a harrowing three-week hospital stay with sepsis to a profound spiritual “encounter with God” that he said changed his life. Now, the celebrity blogger is once again at the center of public concern after a deeply distressing TikTok livestream from his Miami home prompted multiple calls to law enforcement.

The situation escalated so quickly that it drew an immediate response from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office.

Perez Hilton's distressing livestream prompts police response

According to the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received multiple calls on Tuesday night reporting that an individual was livestreaming behavior that indicated a possible mental health crisis. The person was quickly identified as Perez Hilton, and officers were dispatched to his residence in the Westchester area of Miami-Dade County. When they arrived, deputies spoke with family members outside the home, who confirmed that Hilton was alone inside.

Rather than forcing direct contact, authorities said they chose to “tactically disengage” while continuing to monitor the situation, emphasizing a strategy focused on de-escalation. In a statement to Newsweek, the Sheriff’s Office explained that in cases involving someone in crisis, deputies prioritize creating time and distance to reduce tension and avoid escalating the encounter.

Later updates from the Sheriff’s Office indicated that Hilton was safely located and transported to a local hospital for evaluation and care.  TikTok has since removed the livestream and suspended his account, while law enforcement’s crisis response team and mental health professionals remain involved, offering support and resources to his family.

But this troubling moment did not come out of nowhere, as Hilton had already been navigating a deeply personal transformation in recent months.

A spiritual journey shaped by a life-threatening health scare

In the months leading up to the livestream, Perez Hilton had been sharing a different side of his life, centered on faith and recovery following a serious medical ordeal. After a 21-day hospital stay that included complications such as sepsis and deep vein thrombosis, he said the experience left him believing that “God saved me,” prompting a renewed focus on spirituality.

In an emotional video posted earlier this year, Hilton described what he felt was a transformative encounter during his hospitalization, one that reshaped his outlook and priorities. He spoke about wanting to bring his three children to church regularly and build a more reflective lifestyle moving forward.

This shift led him to publicly commit to reading the Bible from beginning to end for the first time, documenting the process across YouTube and social media. He shared that he felt both inspired and overwhelmed at times, offering personal reflections and candid reactions to different passages.
