More than a decade after Glee ended, the possibility of returning to McKinley High is suddenly back on the table. The beloved musical series has found a new generation of fans through streaming, and creator Ryan Murphy has now taken concrete steps toward bringing the story back.

But for the actors who made the original series what it was, a revival could come with complicated emotions—and Chris Colfer is making it clear that he is still waiting to find out what is actually happening.

Chris Colfer has heard nothing about the Glee revival

Chris Colfer, who played Kurt Hummel throughout all six seasons of Glee, was asked about the potential revival in a recent interview with Bustle. His answer made it clear that, despite all the recent buzz, he has not been brought into the conversation yet. Still, Colfer knows exactly how passionate the show's fanbase remains.

“I do know that Glee fans would probably come after me with pitchforks and jazz hands if I said no,” he joked.

The actor admitted that returning would not necessarily be easy. Glee was a demanding show to make, and the loss of Naya Rivera, who played Santana Lopez, would make revisiting that world particularly difficult for him. But he understands the fans' sentiments, as they were the ones crossing a line with his dating life on the show. So, for now, Colfer is not saying yes or no. He simply wants more information before making that decision.

Whether Colfer will be a part of the Glee revival or not, here is everything that needs to be known about the highly anticipated revival.

What do we know about the Glee revival so far?

Ryan Murphy revealed in September that he had finished a script for a potential Glee reboot, working with original co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. The trio wrote the first two seasons of the original series, making their involvement particularly significant.

Murphy has also been quietly speaking with around 10 members of the original cast. According to the creator, those conversations have been “very sweet,” and the actors have been enthusiastic about the idea. However, there is an important catch: none of them have actually read the script yet. Murphy said he wants to write more episodes and see what the cast thinks before moving forward.

The revival also does not have an official series order yet. At this stage, there is a script and active development, but no confirmed production or release date.

Glee originally ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2015, but its continued popularity among younger audiences has made a new incarnation increasingly tempting. For now, then, the Glee revival is a script, conversations, and a possibility, not yet a confirmed new series. And whether Kurt Hummel will be part of it remains just as uncertain as Colfer says it is.
