Meghan Markle and Prince Harry escalated their efforts to champion children's protection from the adverse impacts of social media

Pioneers of Online Child Safety, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Strike Again in a Latest Bipartisan Hearing

Over the past few years, Prince Harry
[https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/prince-harry/] and Meghan Markle
[https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/meghan-markle] have become outspoken advocates
for internet safety. They have been actively making it their mission to cut
through the noise of unsolicited hate and abuse on social media platforms. The
last time they posted on social media was to signal the start of a “new chapter”
in their lives post-COVID-19 and to mark their departure as full-time working
members of the royal family in March 2020.

Ever since their non-profit organization hit the ground running, the duo has
consistently taken steps to promote social media awareness, and their most
recent move marked another significant milestone.

MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY’S EFFORTS TO SAFEGUARD CHILDREN FROM SOCIAL MEDIA
EVILS

Many parents gathered for bipartisan discussions on child safety at a U.S.
Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday. These were the parents whose
children had fallen victim to or lost their lives due to online harm. Extending
a helping hand to these families was The Archewell Foundation, founded by Prince
Harry and Meghan Markle, which has been actively constructing a support system
for parents grappling with the emotional toll and mental health challenges of
their children, triggered by harmful online content.

Through a statement, the co-founders of The Archewell Foundation expressed

their backing and commended the bravery and determination of thousands of
parents nationwide whose advocacy led to this hearing. “It’s the time to make
necessary change at the source to keep our children safe”, the Sussexes shared.
The couple’s dedication to online child safety comes from a deeply personal
perspective.

Meghan Markle has openly shared her worries as a mother during The Archewell
Foundation Parents Summit in New York on World Mental Health Day last year.

WHY THE SUSSEXES ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA HAZARDS

On World Mental Health Day, the couple took part in a panel discussion in New
York City at an event hosted by their charity, the Archewell Foundation. Many
parents attended the event, where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry expressed their
concerns for their children, Archie and Lilibet, aged four and two, growing up
in a world heavily influenced by social media. Meghan Markle shared her fear
about the ever-evolving nature of social media and the challenges it may pose
for their children in the future.

Her remarks followed Prince Harry’s gratitude towards parents who had previously
shared their stories on stage, some of which included the loss of loved ones
connected to social media use. Meghan Markle also recounted the emotional
encounters she had with families who suffered the immeasurable loss of their
children, highlighting the persistent and evolving challenge posed by social
media

With this recent step, the royals sounded the alarm for urgent positive reforms
for children to shield them from the dangers behind the screen.
