Pierce Brosnan has spent decades making 'leading man' look almost unfairly effortless. His four James Bond adventures collected more than $1.4 billion worldwide, turning him into the defining suave action hero of the 1990s. Then came hits like Mamma Mia! and The Thomas Crown Affair, proving that Brosnan could charm audiences in musicals, romances, and thrillers with equal confidence.
Now, one of Brosnan's overlooked 2023 thrillers is enjoying an unexpected encore, racing into Netflix's Top 10 three years after its theatrical debut.

Fast Charlie has officially joined Netflix's Top 10, and the Southern noir thriller is moving far faster on streaming than it ever did in theaters. Pierce Brosnan's crime tale has raced to No. 3 in the United States while also landing at No. 5 globally. That is quite the comeback for a film many viewers initially missed.
Its theatrical story was far less glamorous. The action thriller earned only about $260,000 worldwide during its limited release, making it easy to overlook. Streaming, however, has rewritten the script. Between June 8 and June 14, the film pulled in 3.9 million views and 5.9 million hours watched, proving that timing can be everything.
The renewed attention is not simply about accessibility. Fast Charlie also carries emotional weight as James Caan's final screen performance before his passing. Playing Charlie's aging mob boss battling Alzheimer's, Caan delivers a performance that gives the film far more heart than a standard hitman thriller usually promises, which could be one of the reasons why it made it to the Netflix Top 10.
Critics noticed that quality long before Netflix subscribers did. The film holds a strong 83 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, a rarity for modern action releases that quietly slip into streaming libraries. Thanks to the familiar Netflix boost that recently benefited MobLand, Brosnan's overlooked thriller has finally found the audience it deserved.
Fast Charlie's streaming resurgence feels far less surprising once its many irresistible draws become clear, rivaling the appeal of Paradise.
Why Fast Charlie is so appealing
The magic of Fast Charlie lies in how comfortably it wears its old-school identity. Phillip Noyce keeps the action grounded, the humor dry, and the pacing wonderfully lean, while Richard Wenk's sharp screenplay delivers colorful dialogue instead of exhausting spectacle. Pierce Brosnan does the rest, turning Charlie Swift into an aging assassin whose confidence feels earned rather than manufactured.

Yet the film never survives on charisma alone. Morena Baccarin brings warmth and wit as Charlie's equal, while James Caan's touching final performance adds surprising emotional weight beneath the bullets. That blend of heart, humor, and brisk storytelling explains why Fast Charlie has finally raced into Netflix's Top 10 instead of fading into obscurity.
