Todd Haynes’ gay romance De Noche, which shut down about a year ago, is being revived, with Pedro Pascal joining the cast, as per Deadline. Pascal would reunite with Danny Ramirez, who was originally attached. The production is slated to resume in the New Year in Guadalajara, Mexico, carefully coordinated around Pascal’s busy schedule through 2026. The revival brings new hope to a project long considered dead after Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix unexpectedly departed. Producer Vachon called the initial shutdown a “tragedy” for the LGBTQ-focused film.
Pedro Pascal is set to reunite with Danny Ramirez, who first held ties to the project, portraying two lovers leaving Los Angeles for Mexico in a 1930s setting, as per the report. The feature will be produced by Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler’s Killer Films, the same company that collaborated with Pascal on A24’s summer romantic comedy Materialists, which grossed 85 million worldwide. This revival adds a fresh layer of anticipation, giving De Noche a renewed spark of artistic and cultural significance. Much like Joaquin Phoenix, Pascal too recently stepped away from a project.
Pedro Pascal stunned the set of Weapons with his sudden exit, leaving the director reeling and production in chaos — a surprising move that had everyone asking what really went wrong behind the scenes until the director reflected on his exit.
Pedro Pascal exits Weapons, leaving director Zach Cregger reeling
In an Entertainment Weekly interview, director Zach Cregger detailed the chaotic journey of his horror film Weapons. The original cast featured Pedro Pascal, Brian Tyree Henry, Austin Abrams, and Renate Reinsve from The Worst Person in the World. Cregger explained, "I had a whole different cast for this movie," but production delays caused by Hollywood strikes and Pascal’s scheduling conflicts forced him to completely rebuild the cast. Despite these setbacks, the movie was eventually completed and released, overcoming significant obstacles.

The strikes continued to wreak havoc on the production, forcing Zack Cregger to start over as schedules conflicted, and Pedro Pascal ultimately stepped away from his role as one of the fathers of a missing child. Josh Brolin replaced him, helping stabilize the cast. Weapons, set in a small Pennsylvania town, tells the story of seventeen children who vanish simultaneously. Despite Pascal’s exit, the film earned a solid Rotten Tomatoes score, and now with Pascal set to star in De Noche, fan excitement is through the roof.
