Paul Rudd and Jack Black's Hilarious 2025 Comedy Finally Sets a Netflix Release Date
One of the most memorable and star-studded movies of the late ’90s brought together two major stars, Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube, in the 1997 horror adventure Anaconda. Though the film had its share of flaws and scientific inaccuracies, it slowly transformed into a beloved cult classic over the years, followed by several movies that kept the terror of giant snakes alive. The latest movie inspired by the 90’s classic is a 2025 action comedy, Anaconda, starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black.
After a successful theatrical run, the film is finally making its way onto Netflix to scare a new generation all over again.

A meta reboot of the 1997 cult film, Anaconda, starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black, was earlier released in theaters during Christmas 2025. After an impressive run at the box office, the movie is now heading to streaming. It will be available to watch on Netflix in the United States starting March 25.
The movie is already available to buy or rent on Prime Video. The story follows a group of friends going through a midlife crisis who decide to remake their favorite childhood film, Anaconda, in the Amazon forest, but are soon chased by a real giant snake. Directed by Tom Gormican, the action comedy also features an impressive cast, including Steve Zahn, Daniela Melchior, Ice Cube, and Jennifer Lopez, making a cameo appearance.
Now, while the new action-comedy has managed to make an impact, it fell a little short of repeating the commercial success of the original Anaconda.
Jack Black and Paul Rudd's Anaconda could not beat the original
Both the 1997 movie Anaconda and the latest, starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black, were made on a $45 million budget. However, the 2025 release earned about $134.3 million worldwide, which is a little less than the original’s $136.8 million globally. The film also received mixed reactions from both critics and audiences.

While the 2025 Anaconda holds a 48% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it received 75% rating from the audience on the same platform. Despite the divided reviews, one thing is certain, and that is the movie successfully brings back nostalgia with a healthy amount of humor. Although this franchise may not be as famous as some other monster franchises, the Anaconda films have continued to terrify and entertain audiences, finding its own fandom.
