Paul Dano could reunite with The Batman star Robert Pattinson, but not for a superhero movie. The two previously worked together on The Batman, with Dano playing the role of The Riddler. He was impressive as the terrifying villain. And now, the actor is set to take on a new role in the remake of a 45-year-old psychological horror film.

While the new project could bring Dano to work with Pattinson on board, the two would be playing very different roles this time.

Paul Dano is in talks to join the remake of the cult horror classic Possession. Robert Pattinson is attached to the film as a producer alongside Parker Finn and Jonathan Fass through their production company, Bad Feeling. Roy Lee and Andrew Childs of Vertigo are also producing, while acclaimed producer Marc Bienstock serves as an executive producer.

The news is reported by Nexus Point News. Details about Dano's role have not yet been revealed. The actor is best known for his performances in Little Miss Sunshine and There Will Be Blood. He also earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his role in Prime Video's Mr. & Mrs. Smith. If cast for the film, he will join the confirmed lineup that includes Margaret Qualley and Callum Turner, who is one of the leading fan picks for the next James Bond.

Parker Finn, best known for directing the Smile films, will helm the remake. Although the movie does not yet have a release date, filming is expected to begin in July 2026. And the story will likely draw heavily from the 1981 cult horror classic directed by Andrzej Żuławski.

But that only leads to a mystery filled with psychological horror and terrifying secrets. The film stars Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani as Mark and Anna.
