The entertainment world is mourning as Patrick Stewart’s Star Trek and X-Men co-stars pour in tributes, remembering the actor’s extraordinary legacy. The legendary actor took on several roles throughout his career, appearing in the Star Trek franchise, X-Men films, miniseries, and sitcoms, and becoming one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood. He received three Golden Globes, four Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, and many other honors throughout his career.

Even at the age of 86, the actor had no wish to retire from acting. He was one of the most admired actors who inspired many with his brilliance as well as kindness. As soon as the devastating news of his passing broke, Stewart’s co-stars from two of the biggest franchises came together to pay tribute to the legend with heartfelt messages.

Patrick Stewart’s X-Men co-stars remembered the legend

Patrick Stewart portrayed Professor Charles Xavier for the first time in the 2000 film X-Men. Since then, he has reprised the role in several films. His final appearance as Professor Charles Xavier will be in Avengers: Doomsday, which is also his final on-screen appearance. Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine in the X-Men films, paid tribute to the actor on social media.

“We lost one of the greats of stage and screen today. And, in my book, a tremendous friend and man,” he wrote on Instagram.

Ian McKellen, who will also appear in Avengers: Doomsday, took to X to share an emotional tribute to the late actor. He recalled how Stewart was born and raised in Yorkshire and remained proud of his roots. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also paid tribute, remembering being awestruck by Stewart’s brilliance when he first met him.

“Away from the cameras, he was even more remarkable, with a wonderfully sharp sense of humor,” he said of Stewart’s kindness and charming personality off camera.

Rebecca Romijn, who plays Mystique in the X-Men films and will reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday, also took to social media to honour the actor. She shared a video in which she spoke about having known Stewart for more than 2 decades. She went on to talk about how the actor was a wonderful person both on and off camera.

"He was positively delicious, hilarious incredible sense of humor," she said. "And that booming voice of his that always spoke to the very back of the room. As every classically trained Shakespearean great needs to master, has always been an inspiration."

Alongside his acting career, Stewart also lent his voice to several popular animated projects, including Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Steamboy, Chicken Little, and American Dad!. The actor also balanced two major franchises. Apart from his iconic role in the X-Men franchise, the actor also played a crucial role in the Star Trek franchise.

Before his passing, Stewart struggled with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia, as his representative, Kelly Bush Novak, had previously reported.
