Paramount+ has thrown the Avatar playbook into a volcano and emerged with a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Premiering on October 9, 2026, Avatar: Seven Havens swaps the familiar four elemental nations for a world reshaped by catastrophe, reimagining the Avatar’s role and challenging how fans perceive Korra. Now, Paramount+ has greenlit Seasons 3 and 4, giving this bold new chapter plenty more room to expand.
And just as three episodes land on Paramount+ today, the streamer has delivered news worth celebrating. Not one, not two, but three and four! Fans have even more reasons to get excited about the future of the Avatar universe.

The Avatar universe has barely opened its newest chapter, and Paramount+ is already making room for a much bigger story. During a New York Comic Con panel on Friday, co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino announced that Avatar: Seven Havens has been renewed for Books 3 and 4. Moderated by Janet Varney, Korra’s original voice actor, the panel delivered a treat that extends well beyond the three episodes premiering today.
Released exclusively on Paramount+ on Friday, October 9, 2026, the first three episodes have already given fans plenty to discuss. The premise of a world that fears the Avatar, blaming Korra for the apocalypse, has won praise for turning the franchise’s familiar savior story upside down. The revelation that twins Pavi and Nisha share the Avatar role has also sparked excitement, while Jeremy Zuckerman’s returning score adds emotional heft.
Not every element has bent audiences to its will, however. The new 2D animation style has drawn criticism from viewers who miss the fluid visuals of The Legend of Korra, especially after the hand-drawn visuals of Avatar Aang, while some reviewers feel the premiere takes time to establish the new world. Still, the post-apocalyptic setting and fresh mythology have struck a chord, leaving fans with two more seasons to anticipate and plenty to debate.
And just when Avatar fans thought the good news could not get any better, another series is waiting in the wings.
The Avatar franchise's latest new series
The Avatar universe has found another way to keep destiny on its toes, this time by giving a teenage Avatar permission to misbehave. Announced by Paramount+ and Avatar Studios at New York Comic Con in October 2026, Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos follows a 14-year-old Kuruk, the Northern Water Tribe successor to Avatar Yangchen, finally giving fans a further look at the Avatar that somehow has been a part of the storyline a long time.

Naturally, the road to enlightenment comes with a few inconveniences: an irate teacher, troublesome pirates, unruly spirits, and a koalaotter named Nikik for company. The action-comedy takes a lighter approach to Kuruk than the troubled adult remembered in the Kyoshi novels, with the young Avatar learning all four elements through globe-trotting misadventures. Led by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studio, with Bryan Konietzko as showrunner, the series gives fans another chapter in the ever-growing Avatar saga, though Paramount+ has yet to announce a premiere date.
