Paramount CEO David Ellison is exploring an equity investment from Elon Musk. The media and entertainment giant is officially on the verge of closing the Warner Bros. deal, which has made the financial pressure to secure every dollar all the more urgent. Therefore, Paramount is now looking for an investment syndicate for which it is considering several high-net-worth entities.
Naturally, Elon Musk is a sought-after name in that list. Musk has now become a high-priority potential investor to anchor a new club of buyers.

Paramount needs a private team of ultra-wealthy individuals to diversify the cash backing the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. According to a report from Semafor, Elon Musk's vast capital, deep family ties, and market influence are already positioning him as a high-priority candidate in the internal discussions. However, Paramount has not yet publicly confirmed such a deal, and Musk has not yet formally responded or agreed to buy in either.

Musk is a close ally of the Ellison Family, as reiterated in the Semafor report. Back in 2022, David Ellison’s father, Oracle founder Larry Ellison, invested a billion to aid Musk in acquiring X, once a Disney dream. He was also one of Tesla's board of directors. This makes the rumored deal a natural extension of this elite alliance.
Beyond the family connection, Musk could offer Paramount strategic leverage that goes well beyond his financial contribution.
What Elon Musk brings to the table
It is no secret that Elon Musk commands a fiercely loyal following among retail and institutional investors. That makes his potential involvement about more than simply putting money on the table. As a member of Paramount’s investor syndicate, he could act as a powerful vote of confidence and reassure Wall Street about the mega-merger’s long-term prospects. There is another advantage, too.

Partnering with a high-profile American billionaire like Musk could also help offset the concentration of foreign investors, which led to a lot of backlash earlier. It would give Paramount’s investor base a more domestically balanced profile.
Last but certainly not least, there is the money. Larry Ellison has personally guaranteed more than $40 billion to fund Paramount’s takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery, leaving him with a huge amount of risk tied to a single deal. Musk, on the other hand, has the financial muscle to take on a sizable equity stake without breaking a sweat. With a net worth of around $950 billion, bringing him into the fold could give Paramount some much-needed financial breathing room.
