Those who have watched HBO’s Succession know that Brian Cox is an exceptionally talented actor. Over a career spanning almost six decades, he has featured in movies like Braveheart (1995), Troy (2004), The Bourne movies, Zodiac (2007), and many more. Other than his acting performances, he is also known for his blunt, unfiltered, and sometimes scathing takes on political figures, directors, and even fellow actors.

A recent example of this behavior can be seen in his recent interview, where he relays his unhinged opinion about Johnny Depp.

In an in-depth interview with The Times UK, Brian Cox vented about a number of his peers. Among the attacks, his unvarnished comments about Johnny Depp stood out the most. Just because he did not want to collaborate with the actor, Cox declined a part in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, as the Succession star stated in the interview.

"Overblown", and "overrated," were among the words Cox used for Depp in The Times UK interview.

He said the same thing about Jonny Depp back in 2023 to The Guardian. Also, GQ published an excerpt from his memoir Pulling a Rabbit Out of a Hat in 2022, which has the same words for Depp as he spoke in his recent interview. .

In the memoir, he called the part he was offered in the Pirates of the Caribbean a thankless part that would not have done anything for him except bring in a decent paycheck. He also listed Depp as a reason not to join the movie, as he did in the latest interview.
