Oscar 2026 Nominee Wagner Moura Boards Kristen Stewart’s Latest A24 Feature

Wagner Moura is set to travel back to the 1980s once again. The actor’s performance as Armando in The Secret Agent made him the first Brazilian to win a Golden Globe and also earned him an Academy Award nomination. While he may have missed out on taking home an Oscar, his brilliant performance and dedication caught the attention of casting directors.
Soon after making rounds across the awards circuit, Moura is now set to return to the screen with a potential project alongside Kristen Stewart.

After playing a former professor on the run in The Secret Agent, Wagner Moura is set to step into a far more lavish world in his next project. As per Deadline, the actor is expected to join Kristen Stewart in Flesh of the Gods, directed by Panos Cosmatos. Moura replaced Frankenstein actor Oscar Isaac, who exited due to scheduling conflicts.
With Adam McKay and Betsy Koch on board as producers, A24 has also joined as the U.S. distributor after the project was first announced in early 2024. The movie follows a married couple, played by Moura (Raoul) and Stewart (Alex), who venture into the wild nightlife of 1980s Los Angeles. What begins as curiosity soon pulls them into a seductive yet dangerous world of mystery and violence.
When it comes to vampire films, last year’s thriller Sinners has already raised the bar and expectations more than ever. However, the project appears to be in safe hands with Cosmatos, known for films like Mandy. The pairing of Moura and Stewart, both of whom have explored work behind the camera as well, is also an intriguing element.
In a recent interview, Moura also shared how directing his first feature changed his perspective on acting.
Wagner Moura talks about his debut directorial feature
Apart from dabbling in acting, Wagner Moura has also successfully stepped into directing. In an interview with Sharp, he recalled that it had shown him just how crucial an actor is to a project. Speaking about his debut directorial film, Marighella, he shared that it taught him empathy for actors and made him appreciate the craft far more than before.
“I decided to become an actor not because I felt that I was talented… I wanted to be an actor because I wanted to hang out with those people,” he said.

While directing an episode of Narcos in Mexico, he realized that even when he knew the script, actors could bring unexpected depth and ideas he had never imagined. So, he sees himself primarily as an actor who has stepped behind the camera. Now, until he returns with another potential directorial gem, fans will be waiting to see him in his next acting project.
