Orlando Bloom’s latest career move has left an upcoming thriller facing an unexpected crisis just as cameras were preparing to roll. The actor has reportedly walked away from Reset, his planned independent thriller with Priyanka Chopra, after remaining attached throughout much of the film’s pre-production. With Bloom’s involvement reportedly playing a key role in attracting investors and international distribution, his sudden departure could now force the production into a frantic race against time.

And with filming just around the corner, the movie may now have to find a new leading man before the entire plan starts falling apart.

Orlando Bloom’s sudden exit leaves Reset scrambling

According to a report from TMZ, Orlando Bloom was confirmed to star in Reset alongside Priyanka Chopra, who is also producing the independent thriller, but allegedly exited the project “at the last minute.” Sources told the outlet that his departure has left cast and crew frustrated, with insiders claiming his star power had been important not only to securing financing but also to attracting international distribution. Producers are now reportedly searching for a replacement, with three actors said to be under consideration as production approaches.

Apart from the TMZ revelation, the film follows a woman played by Chopra who wakes up alone in the wilderness with no memory of how she got there and must rely on a charming stranger for survival, only to discover that he may not be who he claims to be. Bloom and Chopra had previously been praised for their chemistry, with director Matt Smukler describing their pairing as an unusual mix of attraction and mistrust that suited the survival thriller’s twists. Producers Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber have similarly described the project as a story combining survival, romance, suspense and deception.

But Bloom’s sudden exit from one project does not mean his 2026 slate is slowing down, with several very different films still keeping the actor busy.

What else is coming from Orlando Bloom in 2026?

Orlando Bloom is still set for a major appearance in Werner Herzog’s Bucking Fastard, where he plays Gareth Mulroney in the upcoming drama. The film is scheduled to premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2026, where it will compete for the prestigious Golden Lion, and it co-stars real-life sisters Kate and Rooney Mara as synchronized twins who become fascinated by Bloom’s character. He is also attached to The Last of the Tribe, an Amazon-set thriller starring Ethan Hawke and directed by Claudio Borrelli, based on Monte Reel’s nonfiction book and centered on a corporate gun-for-hire sent into the Brazilian Amazon.

Meanwhile, Bloom’s long-delayed comedy Wizards! remains in limbo, despite having completed principal photography back in 2022. The A24 film, which co-stars Pete Davidson, has yet to secure an active 2026 theatrical release window after years of delays. With Bucking Fastard now heading toward Venice and The Last of the Tribe adding another major project to his slate, Bloom’s upcoming lineup remains active even as Reset searches for a new path forward.
