Now, the upcoming season appears to have developed a particular fondness for Doctor Who alumni, adding another familiar face to the growing list.

Peter Capaldi is the latest Doctor Who alumnus to wander into the Arconia, and the casting coincidence is becoming delightfully suspicious. According to Deadline, the actor behind the Twelfth Doctor has joined Only Murders in the Building season 6 as a recurring guest star. The London-set season is clearly collecting Time Lords like murder suspects.

Capaldi will share the increasingly timey-wimey ensemble with David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker, both of whom are also recurring Season 6 additions. Tennant famously played the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctors, while Whittaker made television history as the first woman to portray the iconic Time Lord. With Jim Broadbent also aboard, the Doctor Who connections are hardly stopping there.

The Deadline confirmation makes the casting rabbit hole even deeper with Richard Ayoade, who has his own Doctor Who connection, while Jim Broadbent once portrayed an alternate First Doctor in the 1999 Comic Relief special The Curse of Fatal Death. If this continues, Season 6 may need a TARDIS, a sonic screwdriver, and perhaps one very patient detective, or maybe not because of other talented cast members.
