With Obsession continuing to make waves among viewers, Inde Navarrette is giving fans a closer look at the person behind Nikki Freeman. Away from the drama and intrigue of the hit series, the actress has a deep-rooted passion for streaming and gaming, one that predates her rise in Hollywood by several years. In fact, long before she was commanding attention on screen, Navarrette was building PCs and exploring virtual worlds.
Interestingly, Navarrette’s connection to gaming began long before it became one of her favorite pastimes.

Speaking to Complex News, Inde Navarrette shared that she initially gravitated toward gaming because she struggled to make close friends growing up, eventually finding comfort and connection through online communities. Long before Obsession put her on the map, the actress was streaming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold W** and walking dogs to help pay rent. She also named Vanilla Mace as a dream collaborator, while crediting Jacksepticeye and Jenna Marbles for inspiring her love for content creation.
"And then I started streaming because I loved watching streamers. I mean, my brother, well, it started with YouTubers like Jacksepticeye, people like that. And then now it's like Vanilla Mace." Navarrette told Complex News.
However, apart from her recent revelation to Complex News, Navarrette had been steadily building her career long before stepping into Nikki Freeman’s shoes. From playing Sarah Cushing in Superman & Lois to appearing in 13 Reasons Why, Denton’s Death Date, Trap House, and Wander Darkly, the actress quietly assembled an impressive resume across television and film.
While her gaming journey has won over plenty of fans, it was a low-budget psychological thriller that completely rewrote the rules of modern horror.
Obsession turned Inde Navarrette into a breakout star
Released as a modest independent horror project, Obsession has since evolved into one of 2026’s most surprising success stories. In the film, Navarrette plays Nikki Freeman, a music store employee whose life takes a terrifying turn after a supernatural wish strips away her autonomy and transforms affection into dangerous obsession. The performance has drawn widespread praise from both critics and audiences, with many highlighting the actress’ ability to seamlessly shift between warmth, vulnerability, and outright terror.

Navarrette’s breakout moment has arrived alongside the film’s remarkable commercial success. Produced on a budget of less than $1 million, Obsession has grossed well over $224 million worldwide and emerged as a runaway hit in India, where it surpassed Project Hail Mary to become the highest-grossing Hollywood release of 2026. The psychological horror phenomenon has also earned praise from industry heavyweights, further cementing its status as one of the year’s most unexpected cinematic triumphs.
While fans continue to celebrate her breakout turn in Obsession, Navarrette’s latest revelations prove her journey to the spotlight was anything but conventional.
