The 64th New York Film Festival (NYFF64) will soon become the talk of the town. Like every year, the festival will once again feature a massive lineup of highly anticipated films, including major world premieres and acclaimed festival favorites. Industry insiders and festival directors are also teasing a few massive, highly secretive event screenings, giving fans the chance to be part of the very first audience in the world to experience them, completely free of internet spoilers and reviews.

Here is everything to know about the major surprises and screenings headed to NYFF this year.

Speaking with artistic director Dennis Lim, The Hollywood Reporter uncovered plenty of interesting tidbits about this year’s NYFF. Lim shared behind-the-scenes insights into securing high-profile titles like Nathan Fielder’s secretive documentary project and Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial. He also mentioned "a miraculous film," titled Paper Tiger by James Gray.

The 1980s crime thriller reportedly features career-best, transformative performances from both Adam Driver, with his sneaking-out skills, and Scarlett Johansson.

"I think 20, 30 years ago, this would’ve been a great film; in the current context, for an American filmmaker to make a film like this, it’s a miraculous film," Lim told TH. NYFF is also teasing a hybrid documentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim as one of the year's most intense films.

For those eager to catch the festival and make the most of what it has to offer, there are many options available.

Ways to be part of NYFF 2026

Film at Lincoln Center serves as the primary hub for the 64th New York Film Festival. Fans can either catch the festival live at the festival venues or during their upcoming wider theatrical and streaming releases. General public single tickets go on sale in mid-September each year, and one can purchase them directly through the Film at Lincoln Center website.

There are also partner theaters, such as the BAM Box Office in Brooklyn or the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, which screen selected festival highlights. And just in case the tickets are sold out, one can physically line up at the venue's Standby Line roughly 1 to 2 hours before showtime to grab last-minute tickets released just before the film starts.
