The NYCC crowd responded to Marvel’s season 3 finality announcement for Daredevil: Born Again with disappointing jeers. Hell’s Kitchen seemed safe once again with the return of Daredevil in 2025. The Red Devil’s comeback appeared to be a longer stay this time around because of the expanding scope of the Marvel crossovers and different Marvel heroes collaborating with each other.

But that assumption has now met with reality, where Daredevil’s story no longer seems to be in the grand scheme of the MCU going forward, and fans are not happy with this development.

Crowd boos Daredevil: Born Again cancellation news

During Marvel's packed presentation at New York Comic Con (NYCC), head of television, animation, and comics Brad Winderbaum ran through a massive slate of updates. Alongside rolling out previews for the live-action series Zodiac, the Marvel Zombies special, VisionQuest, X-Men '97 Season 2, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the panel hit a major emotional speed bump.

When it was officially confirmed that the upcoming third season of Daredevil: Born Again will serve as the series' final outing, the crowd inside the Javits Center immediately responded with loud, vocal jeers and boos. Responding to the crowd reaction, Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, said something that turned their disappointment into fervor.

"All I'll say is that I imagine the 'Save Daredevil' campaign will be gearing up for round two. Listen, you don't want to invite the wrath of the 'Save Daredevil' people!" he said to subtly encourage fans to show their support for the show.

Besides the final season announcement, the panel also treated fans to an exclusive first look at season 3, opening with a scene featuring Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist seated together. Jessica quickly addresses a glaring absence in the room: their fellow Defender, Daredevil, is currently locked away behind bars following the dramatic fallout of season 2.

Subsequent clips in the trailer reveal Matt Murdock imprisoned, wrapping his hands and taking on hostile inmates in gritty combat.
