Inde Navarrette says Obsession finally freed her from being seen as only the pretty face on set. Her path to that moment involved a tense conversation, a big career in motion, and a role built to look nothing like a glamour reel. Hollywood has a habit of filing talented people under one label. Navarrette appears ready to tear that label into confetti, one carefully chosen role at a time, starting now.
While Hollywood keeps offering Navarrette the glamour route, the actor has pursued the exact opposite, and she explains why in her own words.

Inde Navarrette is done being the pretty one, and Obsession gave her the ugly role she wanted. She had grown tired of being valued for her looks and hungry to be taken seriously as an actor. That frustration shaped the kind of work she chased next, and she was blunt about it on The Kyle Buchanan Show.
“I had felt that I had done the, the oh, you look pretty, you know, for a bit," Navarrette said.
She then added, “And I felt like with Obsession, it was nothing but ugly and I loved it.”

Navarrette also told The Kyle Buchanan Show about an earlier set where she asked the director for playback so she could sink into an intimate scene surrounded by 1,500 people. He told her she looked beautiful and had nothing to worry about, then compared her to Robert Pattinson, who was reduced to his hair in Twilight. Navarrette felt as if she were speaking another language, and afterward she grew careful with her words. That moment pushed her to prove she understands human emotion, not just how she looks on camera.
As Navarrette trades glamour for grit, Hollywood wonders whether Nikki gets a second chapter, and the answer comes with grief.
Inde Navarrette is open to an Obsession sequel and Nikki’s grief
Inde Navarrette told The Hollywood Reporter that she is fully open to an Obsession sequel, adding that turning down the opportunity never crossed her mind. Her view of what comes next for Nikki is far from tidy. According to the actor, Nikki would be starting a grief process, an honest answer she considers more valuable than a cheerful one. That fits a story whose nightmare clearly extends beyond the film’s closing moments.

A sequel would need to examine what Nikki has endured instead of serving another round of horror, which would shift the focus to recovery and its complications. Any return would have to fit a busy calendar, since Navarrette is set to play Rogue in Marvel’s X-Men film, directed by Jake Schreier and scheduled for May 2028. She will also star in and executive produce The Waffle House Index. Navarrette is choosing roles that demand her best work, not her best angle.
