Not Just Wrexham Star’s Autobiography, Here Are 6 Great Book Recommendations by Ryan Reynolds Himself

Over the years, the world has seen Ryan Reynolds
[https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/ryan-reynolds/] become one of Hollywood’s biggest
stars. Though he is popularly known as an actor, he has proved time and time
again that he is a man of varying talents. While his interests range from acting
to business, sports, and even reading, he recently shone a light on his love for
books. Although his hobby of reading comes as no surprise, the book he shared
ended up garnering attention.

Reynolds may have been reading his former star, Paul Mullins, autobiography.
However, it was not the only book that he seems to have recommended to his fans.

RYAN REYNOLDS’ BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

Recently, on his Instagram, Ryan Reynolds gave a shout-out to
[https://www.instagram.com/accounts/login/?next=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fstories%2Fvancityreynolds%2F3259666687727912135%2F%3Futm_source%3Dig_story_item_share%26igshid%3DMzRlODBiNWFlZA%253D%253D]
former Wrexham player Paul Mullins’ autobiography. While he had found the book
stunning, he chose to recommend it to his massive fan following. Although the
recommendation did not go unnoticed, it was not the first time that the star had
found something he wanted his fans to read. Here are 6 other books the Deadpool
3 star has recommended over the years.

THE ANTHROPOCENE REVIEWED BY JOHN GREEN

Back in 2021, Ryan Reynolds took to his Instagram account to share John Green’s
The Anthropocene. He asked his fans to give the book a read as he had just
finished and enjoyed it. The book is said to be quite a literary journey, with
the author diving into various aspects of the human condition. It is also
supposed to help readers learn how to pay attention to the things that capture
their focus.

As always, Green’s book beautifully captured the author’s wit, insight, as well
as the emotion that he had put into his work. Others who have read the book have
even claimed it to be masterful and rich with detail. With a book so
enrapturing, it is no wonder that Reynolds wanted to share it with his fans.

While the book might be a little deeper than most people would presume the witty
actor likes, it ended up on his list of top recommendations.

THE GIRL WITH THE LOWER BACK TATTOO BY AMY SCHUMER

On the list of Ryan Reynolds’ must-reads, Amy Schumer’s The Girl With The Lower
Back Tattoo comes as a surprise. Unlike his usual out-of-the-box genres, the
actor once recommended the New York Times Bestseller to his fans. While it was
not a typical memoir from the comedian, the book focused more on her
observations in the industry throughout her years-long career.

The book was filled with personal anecdotes and reflections of her life, but
they had a funny twist to them. From her early days of navigating the world of
comedy to the challenges of her fame, Schumer opened up about many issues in her
book. It may have been released back in 2016, but it is still considered one of
the star’s best pieces of work.

PERSEPOLIS BY MARJANE SATRAPI

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) two years ago, Ryan Reynolds shared a tweet
about Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis. He told his fans that both the film and the
book were amazing and recommended them. It is a memoir by the author that tells
the difficult story of her childhood in Iran. The main part of the story that
has fans gripped is her retelling of what happened during the Islamic
Revolution.

While the book and movie might be a little heavy, they both did exceptionally
well. The film went on to be nominated for an Academy Award shortly after it
came out in 2008. Although it might be hard to watch, the author also worked on
directing the film to ensure that it was perfectly portrayed.

To date, the film and book both seem to have a high place in the world of
memoirs and documentaries. After all, with a story so intense, it has become
unforgettable.

DISCLAIMER BY RENEE KNIGHT

After a long line of memoirs, Ryan Reynolds also once reviewed the Renee Knight
thriller, Disclaimer. It is said to be a psychological thriller that focuses on
Catherine Ravenscroft, who finds an old book and uncovers her darkest secret.
While the story is complete fiction, the tagline said, “IMAGINE IF THE NEXT
THRILLER YOU READ WAS ALL ABOUT YOU.”

> Just finished reading my favorite book again. (DISCLAIMER Renee Knight). I
> cannot explain how gut wrenching THIS book is 😭 if you're into Thrillers and

Throughout the book, the story jumps between past and present, which keeps
readers hooked on to it. The novel is supposed to make people question how
reliable memories are and learn the consequences of having deep, dark secrets.

AN ASTRONAUT’S GUIDE TO LIFE ON EARTH BY CHRIS HADFIELD

Back in 2016, Ryan Reynolds took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share a
great read that he had come across. It was Colonel Chris Hadfield’s memoir, An
Astronaut’s Guide To Life On Earth. As explained in the title, the book was
written by a renowned astronaut and gave readers a look at the journey of his
life and astounding career.

> Great book. Great Canadian. @Cmdr_Hadfield
> [https://twitter.com/Cmdr_Hadfield?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw]

In the book, the author imparted the knowledge that he had accumulated after a
long and rich life. He also told the world that the mindset and principles of an
astronaut could be used in everyday life. From teamwork to resilience and more,
he gave his readers a long list to keep in mind.

A CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES BY JOHN KENNEDY TOOLE

In an interview with People over 7 years ago, Ryan Reynold revealed that the
book he would take to a desert island was John Kennedy Toole’s A Confederacy of
Dunces. It is a comedic masterpiece that gives its readers the story of Ignatius
J. Reilly. The book was set in New Orleans and seems rather wrong for the
protagonist who does not like being a part of societal norms.

It is the character’s take on life that ends up stealing most readers’
attention. The book followed the misadventures of the character but also had the
author’s exploration of modern life shining right through. While it is not a
story for everyone, most of those who have read it seem to think that it is a
classic piece of American literature.
