For nine seasons, How I Met Your Mother made Ted Mosby and his closest friends feel like an inseparable part of viewers’ lives. The CBS sitcom built its story around friendship, romance, heartbreak, and the many unpredictable moments that shaped the lives of its central characters. That sense of closeness also extended beyond the screen, with fans often wondering whether the actors developed friendships that lasted long after the series finale.
More than a decade after the show ended, Josh Radnor has offered a candid look at where those relationships stand today.

Josh Radnor addressed his relationship with his former How I Met Your Mother co-stars while appearing on the Half the Picture podcast. His answer may surprise fans who imagined the cast remained as close off-screen as their characters were on the show. Radnor explained that while the cast shared an intense experience during the sitcom’s nine-season run, their relationships naturally changed after the series ended. His comments offer a candid glimpse into how the bonds formed on a long-running show can evolve once the cameras stop rolling.
“No,” Radnor said when asked if he was still close with his HIMYM co-stars. “Not even a little bit.”

His comments on the Half the Picture podcast however, were not intended as a criticism of his former castmates. Radnor explained that he still has deep affection for the people he worked with, even though their lives have naturally moved in different directions since the sitcom ended. Rather than suggesting there is bad blood between them, Radnor framed the distance as a natural consequence of moving on with their lives. He made it clear that the memories and connection they shared during the series remain meaningful to him.
That distance reflects the reality of what happened after the beloved sitcom wrapped, and it may also explain why fans rarely see the entire cast together today.
Where can fans stream How I Met Your Mother next?
After leaving Netflix on December 3, 2025, How I Met Your Mother became available for streaming on Hulu in the United States. International viewers, including those in the United Kingdom, can continue watching the series on Disney+. For fans who want permanent access, all nine seasons can also be purchased digitally through platforms such as Amazon Video and Apple TV, while physical DVD and Blu-ray collections remain another option.
Although the cast may no longer share the everyday closeness portrayed by their characters, Radnor emphasized that the bond they formed remains meaningful. He compared the experience to college, where people can share an intense period of life before eventually going their separate ways.

For fans, his comments offer a more realistic perspective on one of television’s most beloved ensembles: the friendship may not be active, but the affection remains. Radnor’s perspective suggests that some relationships can remain important even when they are no longer part of everyday life. The cast may have gone their separate ways, but the memories of their time together continue to resonate with audiences.
