'Normal': Cast, Plot, Release Date, and All You Need to Know About the Bob Odenkirk Starrer Flick

There is nothing normal about the movie Normal, which is finally set to arrive this year. Starring Bob Odenkirk, the film made quite a noise earlier at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2025. Soon after its premiere, it was picked up by Magnolia Pictures. A few months later, it is set to become one of the distributor’s biggest releases in more than two decades of cinematic history.

Bob Odenkirk centers the film. He will star as Sheriff Ulysses, breaking further away from his several decades-long designation as Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Odenkirk also brings the expertise of a government assassin from 2021's Nobody. 

Lena Heady will play Moira: The British actress has appeared in Game of Thrones and The Abandons.

The movie is directed by Ben Wheatley and written by Derek Kolstad. Odenkirk and Kolstad previously worked together on Nobody and had also discussed collaborating again on Normal. Their previous movie, Nobody, along with its sequel, was an immense success, earning $100 million at the global box office, so clearly, there is a high expectation for the latest release.

The movie Normal focuses on Sheriff Ulysses, played by Bob Odenkirk, who is temporarily posted to the quiet Midwestern town of Normal. In his new position, he hopes for a break from his troubled marriage and recent trauma on the job. However, when he comes across an unusual bank robbery in the town, the sheriff discovers a dark secret.

Release date of Normal

Normal is all set to release on Friday, April 17, 2026. According to Magnolia Pictures, the film will head to 2,000 theaters, making it the studio’s largest release since Thelma. The earlier release opened in 1,290 theaters in June 2024 and earned a $9 million at the domestic box office. Can Normal achieve similar success? After all, unlike its title, there is nothing ordinary about the town. What remains to be seen is how audiences respond.
