In 2014, when John Wick came out, it set a benchmark for action thriller movies. As Wick set out to take revenge for his dog’s death, the movie delivered a powerful punch of intense, relentless, and brutal action sequences. It was hard to fulfill the parameters set by Keanu Reeves, but when his contemporary, Bob Odenkirk, took this charge in 2021’s action thriller Nobody, a similar and sharp era of action began. Now, four years after the first fist-pumping action flick, Odenkirk is back for a spectacular sequel, promising there is much more left in the regular by day, extraordinary by night, Hutch Mansel.

When Nobody arrived on the big screen in 2021, it was called a worthy replacement of the Wick universe despite its modest budget. The first instalment managed to awe the audience, and in Nobody 2, Bob Odenkirk is returning as Hutch Mansell with the original star cast of Connie Nielsen as his wife Becca Mansell, and Christopher Lloyd and RZA, who played his adopted father and brother.

The film has also added some well-known new faces and will feature Colin Hanks, John Ortiz, and Sharon Stone in key roles. Young star Mckenna Grace, known for Young Sheldon and many other roles, is also a part.

Making matters more interesting, the sequel is written by Derek Kolstad, credited for writing the original John Wick, along with Aaron Rabin, and is directed by an Indonesian director, Timo Tjahjanto. Nobody 2 promises an inside ride of fun-filled action, more grand than the first movie.

Plot of John Wick styled Nobody sequel

The sequel will follow the real timeline and will see Hutch Mansell after four years after taking on the Russian mob, owing to which he is in $30 million in debt to the criminal organization. While the suburban dad is working secretly to pay it off with secret rendezvous, things between him and his wife find themselves overworked and drifting apart.

To revive the family dynamics, they decide on a short getaway with their kids to Wild Bill’s Majestic Midway and Waterpark, and end up in Plummerville. As per the movie description, after tussling with some town bullies there, “Hutch finds himself the focus of the most unhinged, blood-thirsty crime boss he has ever encountered." This sequel shifts away from a gloomy warehouse feel and exudes a more summery vibe with its imminent arrival.

When will Nobody 2 arrive in cinemas?

Making the summer hotter, Nobody 2 arrives in theatres on August 15 in the States and worldwide. While the first movie grossed $57 million against a budget of $16 million, the sequel has greater hopes for bigger revenue.
