Mystic Falls may be long behind them, but Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley are not done sharing the screen just yet. Nearly a decade after The Vampire Diaries ended, the beloved duo is officially reuniting for Hulu’s You Deserve to Know, swapping vampires and supernatural romance for a gripping m***** mystery fueled by secrets, betrayal, and suspense.   The reunion has wasted little time in giving fans another reason to celebrate one of television’s most iconic on-screen pairings.

Hulu is developing You Deserve to Know, a television adaptation of Aggie Blum Thompson’s 2025 novel. Penned by Brian Tanen, the series follows three neighboring suburban couples whose seemingly perfect friendships begin to unravel after one of the husbands is m*******. As buried secrets come to light, trust quickly gives way to suspicion. Dobrev and Wesley will star as Gwen and Scott, neighbors who find themselves investigating the shocking m***** from opposite sides while becoming increasingly entangled in the mystery.

Beyond leading the cast, Nina Dobrev will also serve as an executive producer on the project. The series is backed by Alex Cooper’s Unwell Productions and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, with Aggie Blum Thompson also executive producing the adaptation. For longtime The Vampire Diaries fans, the announcement marks the actors’ first major scripted reunion since portraying Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore across eight seasons of the hit CW series between 2009 and 2017.

And while the reunion is already making headlines, both stars have been keeping equally busy with their latest projects.

Nina Dobrev, aka Elena, has continued expanding her film career with projects including The Bricklayer, Reunion, and The Get Out. With You Deserve to Know, the actress not only returns to television but also steps behind the scenes as an executive producer, marking another milestone in her developing career. Yet for countless fans, she will always be remembered for redefining the Petrova doppelgänger legacy in The Vampire Diaries, effortlessly making Elena Gilbert, Katherine Pierce, Amara, and every version she portrayed feel like entirely different characters.

Paul Wesley, meanwhile, recently wrapped production on the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, where he portrays the legendary James T. Kirk. He has also appeared in a recurring role on The Buccaneers. And while The Vampire Diaries fans have been eagerly tracking every milestone of the actor’s post-Mystic Falls journey, they’ll have to exercise a little more patience, as the upcoming Hulu thriller is expected to arrive in late 2027 or early 2028
