It is shaping up to be a great year for Spider-Man fans, with Tom Holland returning to the universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The project has been highly anticipated, and there has been a lot of secrecy around it before its release. And not just Holland, this year is big for the Spider Society.

The Spider-Verse is expanding, with more complex characters entering a new chapter in their life. Actors like Nicolas Cage and Daniel Kaluuya are also part of this growing universe, as Spider-Society moves toward more standalone films and thrilling new adventures.

The expanding Spider-Verse has also brought several other characters into the light. Among them is Spider-Punk, who was introduced in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, drawing from the Spider-Man comics. Since then, calls for a standalone film have grown louder, and now, it seems the prayers have been answered.

Caleb McLaughlin Shouts Out Spider-Verse Movies as He Continues His Chase for Miles Morales

While an official release date remains uncertain, the voice behind Spider-Punk, Daniel Kaluuya, revealed in an interview with Deadline (December 2025) that a script for a spin-off is nearing completion.

Spider-Gwen

Another such character from the Spider-Verse is Miles Morales’ love interest, Spider-Gwen. Sinners star Hailee Steinfeld voiced the character in the previous two movies and will reprise her role in the third movie. And she could be returning to take the job again now that a standalone movie is officially in the works.

While there is no release date, Sony Pictures Animation presidents Kristine Belson and Damien de Froberville have confirmed the movie to The Hollywood Reporter.

Venom

Movies from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, such as Madame Web, did not meet their expectations at the box office, making $100.5 million worldwide. However, the pull of Venom remains undeniable. As announced in 2026, Venom could be returning to the big screen, but this time in an animated version.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein could helm the project.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Although it is a new beginning for Spider-Punk and Spider-Gwen, the story following Miles Morales is also heading towards an end. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be the final part of the trilogy. Shameik Moore will return to voice the character Miles Morales.

The release date for the animated movie is set for June 18, 2027.

Spider-Noir

After previously voicing the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Nicolas Cage is returning to play the character in the live-action Spider-Noir series. He will play the role of a detective named Ben Reilly who secretly operates as a masked vigilante. Speaking of the character, Cage revealed why he wanted to play the role.

“For me, this character was 70 percent Bogart, and 30 percent Bugs Bunny. I was basically Mel Blanc doing Bogart, with that sarcastic sense of humor. But it’s a hundred percent me,” he told Esquire.

The series is set to premiere on May 25.
