Nicholas Galitzine worked for months to bulk up to play the role of the most powerful man in the universe, He-Man. But as the British actor recently revealed in an interview, it took him far less time to lose that physique for a new role. In the last two years, Galitzine had impressed fans with glimpses of the ripped body he built to play He-Man in Masters of the Universe.

However, his preferred method of preparation and training may have been when he had to lose all that weight and muscle for his next role.

After Masters of the Universe, Nicholas Galitzine had to lose all the muscle he had built for his next project. For the transformation, the director asked him to do nothing for the three weeks leading up to filming. Surprisingly, with the help of the unusual diet and a break from training, the actor lost the muscle much faster than it had taken him to build it.

“And I’ll tell you, it’s depressing. It takes so long to put on, [but] it’s so quick to come off,” he told Variety during his appearance for the premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

As for the diet, the actor recalled eating macaroni cheese before admitting that the entire routine eventually became quite sickening. That dedication did not come as a surprise, as Galitzine had fully committed himself to his previous transformation into a muscular, ripped physique required for Masters of the Universe. Director Travis Knight also praised the actor for his commitment and hard work on the project.

Not just the physical transformation, playing an action hero has also been a new experience for Galitzine. Fans will finally get a proper look at Galitzine as He-Man when the movie arrives in theaters on June 5, 2026. Soon after the action hero role, the actor will return to more familiar territory to play a prince once again in Red, White & Royal Wedding.

Nicholas Galitzine recalls filming for Red, White & Royal Wedding

Nicholas Galitzine played England’s Prince Henry in Red, White & Royal Blue. The popular film is the adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s novel of the same name. The Purple Hearts actor is now set to reprise his role in the sequel, Red, White & Royal Wedding, where he will reunite with Taylor Zakhar Perez and Uma Thurman.

“It’s so rare that you get to return to something, so it felt like a really wholesome experience,” he told Variety.

“I had a great time filming it.”
