Sony appears to be exploring a new creative roadmap for its Spider-Man spinoffs, one that leans into genre experimentation rather than traditional superhero formulas. Instead of retelling familiar stories, upcoming projects may build around alternate Spider-variants while embedding them within distinctive cinematic styles, giving each character a tone and atmosphere entirely its own.

“They’re following a little bit of that same formula [as Spider-Noir], that same idea of taking a genre and elevating it by putting a Spider-variant into it,” hinting at this evolving direction, Spider-Noir co-showrunner Oren Uziel he explained in the new issue of SFX Magazine, which hits newsstands on April 22.

That approach suggests future entries may treat Spider-Man variants not just as alternate heroes, but as genre anchors, opening the door for stories that feel fresh while remaining rooted in Marvel’s expanding multiverse. It also creates the opportunity for each project to stand apart stylistically, allowing every Spider-variant to bring a completely different tone, world, and storytelling identity to the expanding franchise.
