At Disney’s D23 Expo, Hathaway delivered a special message for its fans.

Speaking onstage at the D23 Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim, Anne Hathaway addressed the enduring affection surrounding both franchises and encouraged fans to keep quoting their favorite lines.

“I’m here to ask you to please never stop reciting your favourite lines to me,” she told the crowd, drawing cheers from the audience.  Hathaway also reflected on the unusual relationship she has developed with viewers who have followed her career since her early roles.

“We have grown up together,” she said at the D23 Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim, as reported by Variety, describing herself as amazed by how deeply audiences have held onto the stories and characters. That connection has become especially meaningful because the films have accompanied fans through different stages of their lives. Hathaway's career eventually expanded into dramatic performances and award-winning work, yet Mia and Andy remain two of the roles audiences frequently return to.

She also expressed gratitude for the emotional attachment viewers have formed with these stories. Her appearance came with an update on The Princess Diaries 3, which remains in development as the team works toward continuing Mia’s story while respecting the legacy of the original films.

Those beloved characters may have brought Hathaway generations of fans, but her next project takes her into a far darker world.

Amazon MGM Studios has released the full trailer for Verity, a psychological thriller adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. Michael Showalter directs the film, with Hathaway starring as Verity Crawford and Dakota Johnson playing Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer drawn into the Crawford family’s unsettling world.

Verity is a celebrated author who becomes unable to speak or walk following a catastrophic accident. Her husband, Jeremy, played by Josh Hartnett, hires Lowen to complete Verity’s unfinished book series after she can no longer write herself. Lowen moves into the family’s secluded home and gradually becomes closer to Jeremy.

Her curiosity soon leads her toward disturbing discoveries surrounding Verity, including a flash drive containing an autobiographical confession that threatens to change her understanding of the family.The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 2, 2026, giving Hathaway another opportunity to step into a dramatically different role while audiences continue celebrating the characters that helped define her career.
