NBC is finally pushing Peacock to new heights by joining forces with YouTube. Peacock initially launched in 2020 with an impressive lineup of timeless classics and fan favorites. Since its debut, however, the streaming platform has been slower than many of its competitors in expanding to third-party platforms. However, NBCUniversal is now working to change that.

Over the past year, the company has been catching up by signing a series of new partnership deals that can help strengthen Peacock's position in the industry. And the latest is an exciting deal with YouTube, which is yet another step in expanding Peacock's reach.

Peacock is set to launch on YouTube Primetime Channels, which is one of the largest streaming marketplaces in the U.S., alongside Prime Video. As YouTube announced, Peacock's Premium Plus tier, which is priced at $16.99 per month and offers an ad-free experience, is now available through its Primetime Channels subscription marketplace. The move is a major expansion for the streaming service.

Under the deal, subscribers will gain access to Peacock's lineup, including Spanish-language coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Love Island USA, NBA and NFL content, and much more. The partnership is expected to help NBCUniversal expand Peacock's reach as the company continues to grow its streaming business. The company has been pursuing this strategy since last year.

Since then, it has bundled Peacock with Apple TV and made the service available at no extra cost for Walmart+ subscribers. It also signed a broad agreement with Google to bring Peacock to YouTube TV. These deals show the company's efforts to strengthen Peacock's position in the increasingly competitive streaming market.

The announcement also comes as NBCUniversal prepares for its planned separation from Comcast, kicking off a new chapter for the media company and its streaming ambitions.

NBC Universal’s split from Comcast

Comcast has officially confirmed that NBCUniversal and Sky will become a separate, publicly traded media company. The new company will include NBC, Peacock, Universal Pictures, Illumination, DreamWorks Animation, Sky, news and sports networks, and Universal theme parks under the leadership of Mike Cavanagh. Meanwhile, Brian Roberts will lead the remaining Comcast, which will continue focusing on Xfinity broadband, wireless, and Comcast Business services, as per Comcast's Corporate Press Room.

The separation is expected to take around a year. Comcast will keep a stake of up to 19.9% in the new company for up to one year before fully exiting its ownership. This split will allow Comcast to focus entirely on its connectivity and communications business while NBCUniversal operates independently.
