Matthew McConaughey has confessed his deep appreciation for a good morning poop. The Oscar winner is currently promoting Brothers, his Apple TV series that also stars Woody Harrelson. Most interviews on a press tour stay in safe territory, with talk of acting methods and favorite scenes. McConaughey had other plans, and those plans involved the plumbing of the human body, discussed at length and with total sincerity.

As most actors guard secrets about craft and fame, McConaughey revealed the daily ritual he believes quietly powers everything else.

Matthew McConaughey shares his morning routine hot take

Matthew McConaughey believes a proper morning trip to the toilet sets up everything that follows. The actor, 56, delivered this news with the calm of a man unveiling a trade secret. He argued that the digestive system rarely gets the credit it deserves, even though it quietly runs the whole operation.

“The most underrated part of a good day is dropping a good deuce in the AM,” McConaughey said on the Subway Takes with Kareem Rahma podcast.

He then added, “I mean, you get a half-inch taller. Your mind’s clearer. Thoughts are clicking. Eyes get bluer. Everything starts to work.”

On Subway Takes with Kareem Rahma, the host admitted that his bathroom visit was pending, and McConaughey said the same after a long trip from the West Coast and a restless night. He cautioned that the conversation might turn edgy without it. He noted that people hide behind polite euphemisms and suggested that digestive health deserves a spot on any list of places to live. Rahma, 40, added that fiber matters more with age.

While his mornings run on routine and fiber, McConaughey also believes lasting love thrives on something much dimmer than fireworks.

Matthew McConaughey explains the honeymoon phase

Matthew McConaughey told Jay Shetty on the On Purpose podcast that couples should not expect the honeymoon phase to last forever. He admitted that he may not be romantic enough about the idea. In his view, early romance runs on possibilities and the thrill of discovering another person. Marriage arrives with a different job description, with responsibilities and children, plus tired days and ordinary afternoons where nobody resembles a romantic comedy lead.

McConaughey speaks from two decades with Camila Alves, including 14 years of marriage and three children. He compared early romance to a 100-watt bulb, bright enough to dazzle and tiring to maintain. He pointed to a 30-watt bulb instead, a softer glow that lasts. Keeping that light on takes small gestures, such as pouring Alves an extra cup of tea. The honeymoon phase was never meant to be permanent, but a good morning poop, according to McConaughey, can be enjoyed every single day.
