Rob Lowe has spent more than four decades becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognizable leading men, sharing the screen with plenty of famous co-stars along the way. From his early Brat Pack days to his television roles in The West Wing and Parks and Recreation, Lowe has had no shortage of memorable romantic moments on screen.

So when asked to pick his best on-screen kiss, the actor did not need much time to make his choice—and his answer came with a rather flattering description of his co-star.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Rob Lowe was asked by host Andy Cohen to name his best on-screen kiss. Cohen listed several of Lowe’s notable co-stars, including Demi Moore, Rashida Jones, Kim Cattrall, Calista Flockhart, and Meg Tilly, but the actor immediately settled on Nastassja Kinski.

“At that moment in time, she was probably the most beautiful woman I’d certainly ever seen,” Lowe said. He admitted that kissing Kinski on camera made him “very, very scared.”

The actor also explained just how intimidated he was by the actress while filming their 1984 movie The Hotel New Hampshire. Kinski and Lowe starred alongside Jodie Foster, Beau Bridges and Rob Lowe in the Tony Richardson-directed adaptation of John Irving’s novel. The film arrived early in Lowe’s career, when the actor was already becoming one of Hollywood’s most recognizable young stars.

But Lowe is not only looking back at his earlier career. He also has some major projects on the horizon, including a possible return to one of his most beloved movies.

Rob Lowe recently offered fans an encouraging update on the long-discussed St. Elmo’s Fire sequel, confirming that the project is still moving forward on the same Watch What Happens Live appearance.

“It is definitely in the works, for sure,” he said. He added that “all of us actors want to do it” and revealed that the cast is expecting to receive a draft of the script in the first week of October.

The potential sequel has been in discussion since 2024, with Lowe previously revealing that he had met with the studio about bringing the story back. At the time, however, he emphasized that the project was still in its very early stages.

Lowe also has another major project coming to Netflix. The actor revealed that a documentary about his life is currently in the works and has been three years in the making. He said he expects it to arrive around Thanksgiving and described it as an honest look at “the good, the bad and the ugly.”

For Lowe, it seems there is plenty of looking back happening—but his Hollywood story is far from finished.
